Following the
natural way
back to health.

The Dao — the natural way — is the philosophy that guides how Jie practises Registered Massage Therapy: with patience, presence, and respect for the body's own pace.

Registered Massage Therapist,
rooted in each person

Jie is a Registered Massage Therapist in North Vancouver who speaks fluently in English, French, and Mandarin. She welcomes patients in whichever language they feel most comfortable with. In her practice, Jie focuses on each patient's individual needs within a warm, safe, and deeply respectful environment. She believes healing begins with listening — to the patient's words, and to the language the body speaks on its own.

"I believe in the importance of listening to our bodies and respecting their needs. Every body tells a different story — and every treatment should honour that."

Rather than applying a fixed protocol, Jie weaves together a range of techniques within each session, guided by what the body needs in that moment. With extensive training in assessment-based treatment approach, home care, and treatment planning, she is equally at home working with complex injuries as she is guiding someone toward deeper rest and ease.

Please note: Jie is a Registered Massage Therapist regulated by the CCHPBC. She is not a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, acupuncturist, or Tui Na therapist. Daoist philosophy informs her approach — it is not a treatment offered.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage
A gentle technique using precise, rhythmic, feather-light strokes intended to support the movement of lymphatic fluid. Jie has completed additional training in MLD and incorporates it within her RMT scope of practice. It is often used as part of care for post-surgical swelling and chronic swelling, and — with a physician's involvement — as part of a broader plan for lymphedema management.
金 — Metal: in Daoist tradition, the element of release. Shared here as philosophical inspiration for a slow, gentle approach.

Presence, skill,
and deep listening.

Every hand placement is intentional. Every session is unique. The body knows — the work is simply to listen and to follow.

The Philosophy of 道 — a personal lens on the practice

Every hands-on treatment is evidence-informed massage therapy delivered within RMT scope of practice. Daoist philosophy — the idea of working with the body rather than against it — is simply the personal and cultural lens that shapes Jie's calm, unhurried way of practising.

五行 · Wu Xing — Five Elements, shared as cultural inspiration only
Wood
Growth and flexibility — a personal reminder to support the body's natural range of movement.
Fire
Huǒ
Warmth and circulation — a reminder that attentive hands-on work can feel grounding and warming.
Earth
Stability and centre — a reminder to create a calm, settled environment for each session.
Metal
Jīn
Breath and letting go — a reminder to allow time and space rather than to force.
Water
Shuǐ
Rest and depth — a reminder that the body responds best when invited, not pushed.
Three principles that guide every session
無為
Wu Wei
Effortless action
Acting in harmony with the body's natural flow rather than forcing against it. Each session listens to what the body needs — never imposing a fixed protocol.
"I do not force tissue to release. I create the conditions in which release becomes natural."
陰陽
Yin & Yang
Dynamic balance
Health is a living balance between opposites: tension and ease, activity and rest, effort and surrender. Every session moves your body toward its own equilibrium.
"Where the body is too tight, we soften. Where it is lax, we awaken. We seek the middle way."
Vital life energy
In Daoist tradition, Qì describes the felt sense of vitality and ease of movement. Jie draws on this perspective as inspiration; her clinical work uses evidence-informed massage therapy techniques within RMT scope of practice.
"The philosophy reminds me to work with the body, not against it — within what massage therapy can offer."
道 · 健 · 康

"The Way, Health, Wholeness — three words, one truth. The Dao does not restore you to who you were. It guides you toward who you are meant to be, in a body that moves freely, rests deeply, and feels fully alive."

Your journey through massage therapy

Care unfolds in stages within RMT scope of practice. Each session is informed by assessment and your individual response to treatment.

Step 01 · Listen
We hear your body
Your history, patterns, and tension hold information. We begin by listening — to your words and to your tissue. In practice: intake conversation, slow palpation assessment, range-of-motion testing, and postural scanning before any treatment begins.
Step 02 · Open
Remove the blockages
Skilled hands release restrictions — tightness, adhesions, nervous system activation — that interrupt your natural flow. In practice: deep-tissue and myofascial release, trigger-point therapy, and gentle joint mobilisations.
Step 03 · Flow
Restore movement
With blockages cleared, circulation, breath, and energy move as they should. The body remembers what ease feels like. In practice: Swedish effleurage, lymphatic drainage strokes, and passive stretching to reawaken glide and breath.
Step 04 · Harmonise
Sustain the balance
Regular practice maintains harmony. Your body becomes more resilient, more self-regulating, more fully alive. In practice: tailored home-care exercises, breathwork cues, and a maintenance treatment cadence between visits.
